Description

Light Telling a Story of Safety and Service

PG&E’s Gas Safety Academy lobby centers around a powerful narrative element, transforming a real-world artifact into an immersive, educational experience. Our lighting design brings this story to life, using light as both a visual and emotional driver.

At the heart of the space, a ruptured pipeline segment is illuminated as a sculptural focal point. Programmable RGB lighting introduces slow, cyclical color transitions that evoke fire, water, and ice, reinforcing the underlying themes of risk, response, and resilience. The result is a dynamic installation that captures attention while encouraging reflection.

Surrounding the exhibit, lighting is carefully balanced to support clarity and comfort. Ambient and accent layers ensure the pipe remains the visual anchor, while maintaining a welcoming, functional lobby environment. Clean, linear details and cylindrical pendants at the reception area complement the architectural language and brand presence.

Integrated controls allow the space to shift seamlessly between everyday use, training scenarios, and special events. From subtle daily operation to more expressive moments, lighting adapts to support both storytelling and functionality.
